Ever since the first matches played here in 1890,
Newlands has become one of the world's most recognized and respected
rugby stadiums. The second oldest test venue in the world, Newlands
is now a modern 51 000 capacity stadium and has witnessed countless
dramatic international and provincial matches through the ages. Who

Newlands Cricket Ground
Surely the most picturesque cricket ground anywhere,
Newlands has earned the right to stage the opening ceremony and
match of the 2003 Cricket World Cup.
Visit the President's Suite; the exclusive South Club and the control
rooms, including the scorers' and third umpire's booth. Take a walk
around this beautiful ground and enjoy the magnificent backdrop
of Table Mountain.

The Sports Science Institute of South Africa
Completed in 1995 the institute was the result of
a vision to provide a facility to increase the level of performance
of all our sportspeople and encourage support for sportsmen and
women across all cultures and groups. The target market is all individuals
or teams who use exercise to achieve a desired end.
Headed up by Morne du Plessis, ex-Springbok captain and 1995 Springbok
World Cup Manager, the institute has many facets; a conference centre;
fitness centre; high performance laboratory area; Outreach programme;
the University of Cape Town Exercise Science and Sports Medicine
faculty; the headquarters of SA Rugby - and many other sports related
activities.
Come on a fascinating tour of this Institute; rub shoulders with
the sports stars of the present and the future; learn more about

The South African Rugby Museum
Situated a touch kick away from Newlands Rugby Stadium,
the SA Rugby Museum offers an exciting and thought-provoking insight
into the history of the game in South Africa. With items dating
back to 1891 the museum is a must for any sports fan visiting Cape
Town.
Take a trip down memory lane; listen to some old radio commentaries;
follow the path to unity in South African Rugby and the emergence
of the South African Rugby Football Union out of the four previous
administration bodies.
This museum is a fitting tribute to all South African rugby players,
administrators and supporters.
